S.W.A.L.K. By Design was born out of a passion for unusual greetings cards and transforming packaging from being simply packaging to being part of the gift itself.
It was set up in 2007 by single mum Carrieann Heath, who lives in Dorset with her daughter Jaz.
Having worked as a hair stylist for many years to provide for her daughter, Carrie took the plunge and went back to college to study Art and Design. Spurred on by her passion and a fierce desire to succeed, she then went on to study Graphic Design at Bournemouth University joining a tool company as an art worker.
However, Carrie found the work stifling and unimaginative and continued designing at home before taking the plunge and setting up her own company. Carrie has created The Wrapard and The Boxie and continues to expand her designs and create new ones.
She says: "Who says a greetings card has to be flat? Packaging doesn't have to be just packaging. It can form part of the gift and it can be beautiful and long lasting too. I want to continue challenging perceptions about cards and invites within the industry and make people realise how different and exciting these things can really be."
